Questions, answered.

These are the questions small-business owners ask before they pay anyone to build a website, answered with our real prices. They run in the order people tend to ask them, starting with whether you need a site at all. The price questions have their own list on the pricing page, and California's accessibility and privacy rules have a page of their own.

01 / Whether you need one

Do I still need a website if I have a Google Business Profile or a Facebook page?

Yes, once people want more than your hours and phone number before they call. A free Google Business Profile or Facebook page can carry a brand-new business for a while. A website holds what a profile can't, like your full prices and a booking form on a domain you keep, and it's the link your profile sends people to when they want the details.

What a Launch site includes

Can I get a website for free?

Yes. A Google Business Profile costs nothing, and Wix has a free plan. The catch on a free builder plan is an address like yourname.wixsite.com with the builder's ads on it, and a site you can't export if you outgrow it. Free is the right call when you need to exist online this week with no budget. Once you want your own domain, you're paying either way.

What website packages cost

How do I get my business on Google Maps, and why isn't it showing up?

Maps runs on your free Google Business Profile, so claim and verify that first; your website is what shows up in regular search results. When a business won't show up, the usual cause is a profile that was never verified, or a site Google can't read because it sits on a trial plan or behind a password. Every plan we build includes search setup, with your Business Profile wired to the new site.

02 / Platforms and price

Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or a custom site: which is best for a small business?

Pick by who does the work. Wix and Squarespace suit an owner who wants to build and edit alone for a monthly fee, but Wix won't export your site and Squarespace exports only part of it. WordPress can move anywhere, and its plugins need updating for as long as it runs. A custom site costs more up front ($1,500 to start with us) and leaves the building and upkeep to us.

Our plans and prices

How much does a website redesign cost, and when is it time for one?

We scope a redesign on a free call like any other project, and our fixed plans start at $1,500. Sometimes three small fixes beat a rebuild, and we'll tell you so on that call. It's time when the site drags on the phones your customers carry, or when it has stopped bringing in calls.

Redesigns in Long Beach

Will I lose my Google rankings or my email if I redesign or switch designers?

Not if the move is planned. Keep every page address you can, and give any page that moves a permanent redirect, so the standing it earned in Google carries over; we do that on every redesign. Your email runs on records attached to your domain, separate from the website, so it keeps working as long as those records come along with the domain. When you move to us, we connect the email you already use.

03 / Hiring a designer

What should I ask a web designer before I hire one?

Ask the questions that decide the bill later: how many pages and revision rounds you get, who writes the words, what you keep if you leave, and what the site costs over three years. Get the answers in writing. Ours are public: Launch is 3 pages with 1 revision round, you supply the words, you keep your domain and content, and it comes to $4,920 over three years.

Seven questions for comparing quotes

Who writes the words and supplies the photos?

You write the words on every plan, or we write them for $300 a page from the add-on menu. Photos work best when they come from you, because pictures of your actual work look like you, and stock looks like everyone. Whatever text and photos you supply stay yours, even if you cancel the care plan. Send them early: waiting on content is what usually slows a launch.

The add-on menu

Is a "custom" website really custom, or a template?

Ours is. Each site is designed for one business and hand-coded, with no page builder or bought template underneath. You can check any designer's claim yourself: open the page source of a site they built and search for names like wix or wp-content, because builder sites tend to announce themselves in the code. Then ask to see two of their sites side by side and compare the layouts.

04 / After launch

Can I get a business email address with my domain?

Yes. An address like you@yourbusiness.com runs on your own domain, and we set it up for you, or connect the one you already use so nothing changes for the people who write to you. A domain comes with every plan, because registering it is part of the care plan, and it stays yours if you ever leave.

What care includes

How often should my website be updated?

Change prices and hours the day they change, and read the whole site once a season for anything stale. Google and AI assistants repeat whatever your site says, so an old price keeps getting quoted until someone fixes it. On our care plan, one content edit a month is included (up to 30 minutes of text and image changes), and we keep the code and hosting up to date.
